Poseidon was born into the royal family of Cronus and Rhea. He was born on Mt. Olympus. He came in the picture when his brother Zeus saved him and his four other siblings when their father swallowed them.
Poseidon and his brothers and sisters divided the world amongst themselves. They did all this after they had defeated their father Cronus. They had to split it because it was to mush to handle for one god.

When Poseidon would have an affair, it never turned out very well. When he cheated on his wife with Scylla, Amphitrite was so mad that she got even. Then when he went and kissed Medusa in Athena’s temple. Athena turned Medusa into a monster with snakes for eyes.
Poseidon got his trident from the Cyclopes for helping them escape. Poseidon uses his trident, which is a three- prong sword, because that is how he gets his power. With his trident in his hand, he can make the ocean do what ever he wants it to do. He also can shake the earth and he can shatter anything.
Poseidon decided to turn himself in to a stallion because he wanted to be with Demeter. At the same time Demeter turned herself into a mare because she wanted to hide from Poseidon and she could not get her daughter back from the Underworld.
One day Amphitrite had found out that her husband had loved someone else while he was married to her. When she found out that Scylla was taking a bath she went and threw magical herbs into the water. When she did this it turned Scylla into a six headed monster with octopus arms forever.
Poseidon and Athena went and had a competition for the city of Athens. They did this when both of the set out for the city. They knew only one could have it. One day Zeus told them that whoever gave the city the best gift would win the city of Athens. Poseidon gave them salt water which they really couldn’t use and Athena gave them an olive tree. They could use it for food, shelter, and firewood.
Poseidon worked for years trying to get revenge on Odysseus for what he did. Odysseus had blinded Poseidon’s son, Polyphemus, a while back. Odysseus did that so that he and his men could have escaped from the cave.
